2_ROCKFALL BARRIER

BarriersRock barrier fences form part of the passive range of solutions where the primary objective is to intercept rock falls. This follows the same principle used for embankments which are suitable for moderate gradients however where steep gradients are encountered and space becomes a premium then rock fences are preferred. A rock fall tunnel may be considered where the rock face is near vertical slopes or where the kinetic energy developed by the falling rock exceeds 3000kJ.
